Description

First time on the market in 50 years.
You are bidding on a vintage (for sure), Chinese Mud man. This collectible has all the hallmarks of being a handmade mudman: the old man has unglazed face and hands and holes for eyes and ears. His glaze is crackled which indicates he was probably made in the early to mid 20th century. He is holding a sword and a bowl, most unusual, not seen other mud men holding these items. . There is broken paper on the bottom of the statue (previously holding contraband, possibly?)
This Mud man belonged to my Grandfather, a locally known serious Asian antique collector, was most likely purchased in the 1960's - mid-1980's in California's San Francisco Bay Area, where he lived, or Japan, where he traveled frequently.
